A little help before you begin
Pottery Log questions, answered.
Get to know the app, choose the right plan and decide how you want to document and share your work.
Getting started
What is Pottery Log?
Pottery Log is a pottery journal app for recording pieces with photographs, notes and making details. You can keep a record of your process and revisit it when planning your next piece. See the pottery journal features for examples.
Is it available for iPhone and Android?
Yes. Download Pottery Log from the App Store for iOS or Google Play for Android using the links below. Check the relevant store listing for device and operating-system compatibility.
Do I need to be an experienced potter?
No. You can start with your first class project. A photo and a short note about what you learned are useful even before you know every clay or firing detail. Our step-by-step walkthrough shows how to create a project.
Free and Premium
Can I start for free?
Yes. You can start your pottery journal with up to 10 projects. This lets you begin documenting your work before deciding whether you need Premium.
What does Premium include?
Premium adds unlimited projects, glaze recipes, collections, following makers and your public portfolio. The glaze recipe organiser page shows the information you can keep with a recipe.
How much does Premium cost?
Monthly and annual plans are available. Open the app to see the current price and subscription terms before subscribing.
Do subscriptions renew automatically?
Yes. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel renewal. Manage your subscription through the store account used to subscribe. If you need help locating it, contact support.
Projects and glaze records
What can I record for a piece?
You can add photographs, notes, a start date, clay type, shrinkage, forming method, decoration, glazes and bisque and glaze firing temperatures. Record what matters to the way you make pottery.
Do I have to complete every detail straight away?
No. The making-details step is optional and can be skipped. Return to the saved project and edit it when you have more information, such as the glaze or firing result.
Can I keep glaze recipes in the app?
Yes, with Premium. Add a glaze photo, name, ingredients and firing information. Use your notes to keep the context of your tests, such as the clay body and application method.
Sharing and account help
Do I have to share my projects?
You choose what to share. Individual projects have controls for showing work to members, allowing comments and allowing members to share on social media. Your profile also has visibility settings. Review both when deciding what others can see.
Where can I see other makers’ work?
Visit the members directory to explore public portfolios on the website. You can also explore makers through the Members area in the app.
How do I get help or remove my account?
Use the support form for help with the app. If you want to request account removal, use the account removal page. The privacy policy explains how your information is handled.
